New styling and the innovative techmove technology produces the SHARK EvoLine – a revolutionary motorcycle helmet that can be worn with the chin piece at the front or the back of the helmet changing it from a full face motorcycle helmet to a jet in one flick of the hand. A multi purpose motorbike helmet for all riders!
It also boasts an integral retractable visor to shield from blinding sun shine. The interior of the helmet is totally removable for a good spring clean.
Now for the real stuff. How does it stand up to the rigours of daily instructor use?
Well unfortunately for me mine hasn’t rally stood up very well. The day I got it I said to the sales guy that the visor seemed a little tight but he assured me that it would slacken off and that it was because it was new. Needless to say it didn’t and has just got worse.
I contacted Shark via there site today as the shop I bought it from no longer exists. So time will tell how good this 5 year warranty is.
The problem is that once the visor is closed it is almost impossible to get it open again with one hand. This is a major safety hazard not to mention extremely annoying. However one of our other instructors has this helmet too and gave me a shot and his works faultlessly so looks like I just was unlucky and got a dodgy one. Time will tell what Shark has to say about this and i’ll keep you posted to their response.
In most other respects this is a great helmet and does exactly what it says on the tin. You get the best of both worlds a full face helmet when your speed is up or its wet and open face for summer slow use and great for teaching as I can get my point across very well with its very open features.
It falls down with the integrated sun shield however as it sits strangely and you have to push the helmet all the way forward otherwise it sits right on your line of sight.
I was concerned about the extra weight on the back too but this doesn’t seem to be an issue for me but my other instructor found it a little sore on the neck after a long day of CBT’s.
All in all other than the problems I have had I would say this is a great helmet for everyday use, even if its a little funny shaped. As an instructor helmet it rocks.
