Hyosung GT650 Student Bike
I picked up a Hyosung GT650 tonight from work to take to the test centre for a couple of our students to use.
Seems like quite a good bike so far, I’ve been using it for two months now on a daily basis as a student bike and occasionally as an instructor bike too.
This is the third GT650 I have ridden and seem to find them quite lumpy down low but I don’t know if this is a trait of being a V-Twin or not. Recently we have had to change clutches in two of our bikes and they were chewed to bits. I guess this is due to the amount of slow control that we have to do since they changed the motorcycle test to a two part test.
We are going to try some heavy duty clutches this time and see how they fair with the rigours of being a student bike.
I find the GT very easy to drive with lots of engine braking which came as a shock to me after driving my GSXR750 for so long. The turning circle is fair and has pretty good acceleration. For such a large bike it is quite light too and puts up with alot of abuse. The main down side I found from an instructors point of view is that the seat is extremely uncomfortable even after two hours i feel numb from the hips down.
